Obituary of James Ernest Griffin

James “Tiger” Griffin, 88, of Bossier City, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of family, on April 3, 2022. The Memorial Service will be held at Boone Funeral Home on April 11, 2022, at 12:00 PM. Rev. Jim Freeman of Broadmoor Presbyterian Church will be officiating. Visitation will be held at 11:00 AM before the service. Burial will follow the funeral at Northwest LA Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Tiger was born in Wesson AR on October 1, 1933. He graduated from Junction City High School in 1951 and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Business Administration from LA Tech in 1955. He served in the Army as Drill Sergeant from 1956-1958. Tiger was married to Sally Dudney on June 23,1962. They were married for fifty-nine and a half years. Tiger worked as a Landman, starting for Humble Oil, and then ESSO, and transferred to Jena LA and started at Bodcaw Timber which became Placid Oil until he retired. Tigers’ hobbies are hunting, trap and skeet shooting, and horseback riding in the mountains. After retirement he won many awards in trap and skeet competitions. He was a member of Broadmoor Presbyterian Church and Nolley Memorial Methodist Church. He served in various roles and was actively involved in Church leadership. After retirement, he was very active in mission construction trips to Mexico. He always looked forward to the fall, when he and his brother took horses to Colorado to ride. Tiger is survived by his wife Sally, daughter Jill Brandao (Mike), and son Tag Griffin (Melinda), uncle Harry Richardson, also grandsons Cody Griffin, Clint Griffin, Cameron Brandao, and Ben Brandao. Sister Kay Watson (Vic) and brother Bill Griffin (Bonnie) and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and in laws. In liew of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Alzeimer’s Foundation, Broadmoor Presbyterian Church, or Hand in Hand Hospice Care of Minden. The family would like to thank Ella Carter and Michi Carter, also Denise, Jessica and Zandria from Hand in Hand Hospice, and the staff and administration at Riverview Care Center in Bossier City for their kindness and care of Mr. Tiger. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Clint Griffin, Cody Griffin, Cameron Brandao, Ben Brandao, Chris Griffin, and Eric Watson.
