Obituary of Caren Cone Procter

Caren Cone Procter, 66, of Haughton, Louisiana, passed away on June 16, 2022 in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Caren was born in Crossett, Arkansas on February 8, 1956 to Quintin Turner Cone, II and Patricia Chandler Cone. She graduated from Crossett High School in 1974 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Equestrian Studies at William Woods College in Missouri. She was married to her husband, Bill Procter, for almost 40 years. The two were always looking for unique and fun things to do together! Among other activities, they enjoyed traveling, going to local festivals, and participating in the Krewe of Centaur. Caren was a life-long lover of animals and nature and enjoyed horseback riding and caring for her many beloved pets. She was artistic and liked to sew, paint, and create beautiful crafts and gifts. Caren loved being an active member of the Gems Dance Company, where she participated in dancing and drumming. She was the founder of the drumming troupe, Log Jam, which played for the Gems and other organizations.
Caren was known by all to be a sweet and generous person. Among other volunteer activities she donated time teaching therapeutic drumming to the residents of Mercy Center, a local housing program serving those living with HIV/AIDS.
Caren is survived by her sister, Diane Cone Sperry of Johns Creek, Georgia; her brother, Quintin Turner Cone, III of Lewisville, Texas; Bill’s daughter, Cary Lynn Procter Challis of Liberty City, Texas; Cary’s husband, Brent Challis; and grandchildren whom Caren loved as her very own, Caleigh Morgan Challis, Cathryn Mallory Challis, and Caden John Challis, all of Liberty City, Texas. Caren is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Edwin Procter, and her parents Quintin Turner Cone, II and Patricia Chandler Cone.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will held between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Lotus Studio, 4466 Olive Street, Shreveport, LA 71104. Memorial donations may be made in Caren’s name to Mercy Center or the Shreveport Aquarium. Cards and letters may be mailed to Caren C. Procter, 5805 State Bridge Rd., Ste G 290, Johns Creek, GA 30097.
