Mary “Mac” Mladenka was born August 15, 1931 to Joseph and Agnes Gerlich in Hallettsville, Texas and on July 27, 2022 surrounded by her family died peacefully in her home after a brief battle with cancer. She lived a faithful life devoted to Christ, she honor Mary his mother in praying the rosary daily and is now reaping the promise of eternal life.
Mary never met a stranger and was know to many as Momma, Sugar Babes, Granny Minka, Gran Ba’Nan. She was a loving and caring wife who traveled the world with her military husband, mother, sister, aunt, friend, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a woman of many talents. She loved to garden, cook, play cards, go to the casino and often out fished our dad. She was an honorary member of the South Bossier Bunco Babes filling in as a substitute. She was always ready for a good time having her suitcase packed in preparation for a spur of the moment trip to visit family, go to the beach, fish and the annual trip to L’Auberge Casino for her birthday.
Those welcoming her to heaven include her loving husband of 70 years Charles, her son Chuck, and infant daughter Bridget, grandson Christopher, son’s in law Darrell Patton, Gary Dowden and Scott Arbuckle, parents Joseph and Agnes, brothers Ben, Stanley, Dan and Sonny, sisters Alice, Lillian, Leona, and Bernice, nieces Phyllis Laas and Kathleen Chovanetz. Those left to cherish her loving memory are daughters Joan Patton, Eva Mladenka, Terry Arbuckle and Mary Dowden, and sons Mike(Jeanette) and Pat(Linda Stokes),and her brother Joseph Gerlich(Frances) daughter-in-law Lise Mladenka. 11 grandchildren and 13 great grand children.
Mary lived her life parallel to the faith she held dear, she was a roll model mother, mother in law, friend, aunt and grandmother. She was loving, kind, slow to anger and never to judge. Her kitchen was always open and the aroma of homemade meals filled our home where all were welcome at her table. She is and will always be dearly missed by all who where fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.
