Bossier City, LA-Services for SMSgt. John E. Junkin, will be held in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home, Thursday, March 22, 2007, at 10:00 am with Pastor James Hoover officiating. Graveside services will follow at HillCrest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5-7 pm. Mr. Junkin passed away March 19, 2007, at his residence. He was born on July 28, 1934, in Merigold, MS. SMSgt. John E. Junkin spent 23 years of his life serving our country including during the Vietnam era. He received numerous medals during this time period and also was promoted to 1st Sgt. in the USAF. He is preceded in death by his parents Selma and Hattie Junkin; twin sons Barry and Larry and a brother, Danny Junkin. Surviving him is his loving wife of 48 years Gloria Junkin; son Stephen Junkin; daughter Lori Laukart and husband John; brothers and sisters-in-law: Monroe and Mildred Junkin, Gerald and Pat Junkin, Bobby and Dale Junkin, sisters and brother-in-law: Sue and John Lewellen, Nellie Pace; and the lights of his life, his grandchildren: Heather and Michael Junkin and Amber and Tara Laukart. The family requests that donations be sent to the American Diabetes Association
