Benton, LA Loving Husband, Father, and Pappaw, William Loyd Palmer died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at his home. He was 78 yrs old. Services will be held Friday, January 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Boone Funeral Home, Bossier City, LA. Officiating will be Rev. David Phillips. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Born in Loraine, Texas, this retired cowboy was a longtime resident of Benton, LA. He was employed by the Town of Benton for several years before retiring. Preceding Mr. Palmer in death was his parents, William Cullen and Mary Edna Bennett Palmer; sons, Rankin Fuqua and Bryant Allen Palmer; and a sister, Louise Butler. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 41 years, Shirley Jean Palmer; daughters, Margaret Nix, Linda Cox, Tammy Carlisle, Mary Floyd, and Tina Scott; sons Jon Palmer, Mark Palmer, and Bill Palmer; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Emily Farison and Loyce Chastine; brother, Henry Palmer and numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Joshua Scott, Mark Scott, Buck Carlisle, Anthony Lamont, Charles Pilkinton, and Eric Mattson. "God's gift to us! Loved so much by all of us! We'll miss him dearly."
