Obituary of Rebecca Ann Twitty

Please share a memory of Rebecca to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Rebecca Ann McGinnis Twitty of Keithville, Louisiana passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020 after a lengthy illness. Rebecca was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on December 21, 1962 to parents Darrell and Carole McGinnis.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents John and Ann Young of Shreveport and Earl and Evelyn McGinnis of Belleville, Kansas; her father Darrell Duane McGinnis of Shreveport; her husband, James Walter Twitty of Bethany, Louisiana and her aunt, Sharon Kay McGinnis Ach of Friend, Nebraska.

Rebecca attended Fair Park High School and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1981. Her love of children led her to work as a special education teacher’s assistant at 81st Street School for several years. Later, she became bookkeeper and secretary at Jim Walter Tree Service, which was owned and operated by her late husband.

Rebecca was the proud and loving mother of two beautiful daughters, “Miss Em” and “NikNik.” The loves of her life were her two amazing grandchildren, Madelyn and Devin and her very special grandniece, Cassie Marie. She was also a devoted grandmother to a host of grandpuppies.

Rebecca found her soulmate, Jamie Yawn from England and Zwolle, Louisiana. They had over a decade together enjoying their favorite hobbies; playing pool, taking fishing trips, and spending time with family and friends.

She loved the outdoors and spent as much time as she could gardening, fishing, attending crawfish boils and Barbecues. Becca loved her New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans football teams, NASCAR, listening to Jamie play his guitar and singing; and she was learning to enjoy Jamie’s British Soccer games. She had a beautiful smile and a mischievous twinkle in her eye. She never met a stranger and enjoyed the company of her many friends. Everyone who loved her will dearly miss her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Carole Young McGinnis of Blanchard, LA; her children, Emily Kay Gaskin Mann (and Ian McCarthy), of Shreveport, Louisiana and Ashley “Nikki” Twitty Peace and husband, Keith Peace of Corpus Christi, Texas: her grandchildren, Devin James and Madelyn Kay Schwartzkopf, both of Shreveport, LA; her sister Debra Kay McGinnis Helton and husband David, of Blanchard, La; one niece, Sarah Ann Helton (and Jason Ainsworth) of Blanchard LA; one nephew, Jacob Edward McGinnis Helton of Shreveport, LA; and one great niece Cassie Marie Ainsworth of Blanchard, La.

Rebecca leaves behind a ton of friends, but her most memorable memories were shared with her “Flashback” family. Her family wishes to thank them for their continued love, support and care along with the doctors, nurses and staff at Oschner’s LSU Health and Willis Knighton-North.
