Obituary of Sharon Kae Nelson
Please share a memory of Sharon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sharon Nelson, beloved mother, aunt and sister was born on January 30, 1947 in Pipestone, MN to Walter and Marion Lorenz. She went home to be with the Lord on July 25, 2017. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents and younger sister Jude Knutson.
Sharon is survived by her four children, Tanya Schlenker (Allen) of Sioux Falls, SD., Christa Lorenz Free of Benton, LA., David McPherson (Martha) of Princeton, LA., and James McPherson (Jesse) of Las Cruces, NM. She is also survived by five brothers and sisters, LeAnne VanRegenmorter of Sioux Falls, SD., Dr. Allen Lorenz (Joan) of Weymouth, MA., Karen Frederickson of Sioux Falls, SD., Dr. Robert Lorenz (Sue) of Dighton, MA., and Charise Baker (Jim) of St. Johnsburg, VT. She was also a wonderful grandmother to eleven grandchildren, Matthew, Elizabeth, Molli, Layla, Tyce, Rachel, Jocelyn, Caitlin, Evelyn, Daniel and Sabrina.
Sharon loved adventure, traveling and her family. Sharon always dreamt of seeing the world, and she was able to make it happen. From England, Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, Czechoslovakia, Austria, Switzerland, Greece and even made it to the great pyramids of Egypt. That's a little bit further than the three miles to Tea, SD. During her travels she loved and embraced the local cultures.
Sharon was a very strong willed individual who loved the Lord, her family and life. Anyone who knew Sharon was aware that many decisions were not up for debate. She was a perfectionist in her job and had a very strong work ethic. She also carried this perfectionism over to her personal life. You could see this in her arts and crafts. She loved to sew, make custom soaps, paint, cross-stitch, knit, scrapbook, bake, crochet, and create miniature doll houses and fairy houses, including the furniture right down to the silverware on the little tables. Her talents were unbelievable, amazing and awed by many.
Her family would like to thank everyone who knew Sharon as they played an important part in her life. She will be dearly missed by many and loved by all. Mom always told us kids before bedtime "I love you way up to the sky and I will never let you go." We kids have to change it up a little bit now and say, "Mom, WE love you way up to the sky and we will never let you go."
