We absolutely loved Mr. Young. Some of our favorite and most-oft told dog obedience stories revolve around him. What a lovely man, and what a lion when it came to ensuring every exhibitor had a fair shake in the ring! We both showed our first obedience dogs under him, and his kindness and ability to put one at ease were phenomenal. We were very sad (for those of us left) to learn he had passed, and hope he did not suffer too greatly, for he surely did not deserve to. He has left countless fond memories and kindnesses within the dog community and doubtless is greatly missed!

Don will be missed but never forgottenI am so sad to hear that Don is no longer with us. I always enjoyed showing in his ring, he made dog shows what they should be.... fun! Don was a great judge and a true gentleman. My deepest sympathies to those left behind.

A GentlemanI knew Don through dog obedience trials. He was one of the most charming and nicest obedience judges, very kind to all, and entertaining with his stories. I especially remember how he adored his family, especially his grandchildren. I'm very sorry to learn of Don's passing.

HonorsIt was an honor to be a judge on the same panel with Don. It was always an honor to be an exhibitor in his ring. I was always proud to present a great heeling dog to him as he truly appreciated "the dance" of the heeling with handler and dog. He is now in a painless and happy place. Best regards, Lora Cunningham-Osburn

Don was always so nice to everyone. As a Novice handler he made me feel comfortable and welcome. I showed my very first obedience dog under him and got our 2nd qualfying score under him. Everyone loved showing under him. He will be greatly missed by the dog showing community.

\"Grampy\" My Very Special FriendDear Dawn, Brian, Lynne, Lauren, and Miranda, Words can never express how much I appreciate you sharing Grampy with all of us. He was a very special person and one of the best friends anyone could have. I treasure all the great times we have spent at the softball games and all the stories he shared with Cameron and I. Cameron just adored him as well as I did and I will never forget him. He always made Cameron feel so special everytime he saw him and he really stepped up after Dad died to see that Cameron was doing OK. I always looked forward to sitting with him and discussing just how we would play the game if we were coaching. Know I know how you are feeling at this time and I'm here if you need anything. Don't be shocked if I ask "Where's Grampy" for a while until I get use to him not being here. I know he is in a much better place and will continue to watch over all of us. Again, thanks for all the years, he was truly a wonderful man. Love ya, Aunt Pam

Scotty - A FriendI've known Scotty since 1972. He was my mechanic but also my friend. Over the years we spent alot of time talking about cars, dogs, and family. He showed me pictures of his hometown in Scotland from the 1940s and from recent visits. I am proud to call him my friend. My God bless his family.

Fond MemoriesDon was one of the reasons I continued in dogs. In the late seventies I had my first obedience dog, an afghan, and he gave me the encouragement to continue. He made such an impression on me that for the next 25 years I never missed an opportunity to show to him or hire him as a judge. I know I am only one of a countless number of exhibitors who he touched in a special way without him even realizing he was doing it. The dog show world will miss his humor, sense of fairness, and his charm but he will not soon be forgotten.

We will always remember "Grampy's" sweet voice singing the national anthem at all the Airline sotball games. He was always so encouraging to the girls, and Whitney always knew she could count on him for support. I never heard him yell anything negative to the girls...only the umpires!! ha He will be greatly missed! You are all in our prayers, In His Love, David, Cindy, Whitney & Austin Harrell
