Obituary of Vernon Lee Tilton

Vernon Lee Tilton, Sr. was born 03/03/1953 to Olin and Willie Tilton in Winnfield, Louisiana.  With his family by his side, he went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 28, 2019 in Shreveport. 

Vernon was raised on his family’s property in Wheeling, Louisiana, where he learned to hunt, fish, and love the country life.  Following generations before him, Vernon lived a simple life with many friends and family stopped by to visit and enjoy the quiet life of the country.  One of his passions was running his saw mill making custom lumber for others to enjoy.  Often times you could find Vernon at a gospel singing where he made many friends.  His faith was strong and he loved sharing the gospel truth with others, and inviting them to church.

Preceding Vernon in death is his parents, Olin and Willie Tilton; and brother, Cecil Tilton.  Left to cherish many memories are son, Lee Tilton and wife Kim; granddaughter, Cailley Tilton; grandson, Tristan Tilton; great-grandson, Jhett Kendrick; nephews, Scott Tilton and wife Mellissa, and Brad Tilton and wife Cindy; niece, Maria Fitzgerald and husband Kendall; special friend, Abbie Mayeaux and family; aunt, Dee McKee; and many other family members. 

A Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Northside Baptist Church in Montgomery, Louisiana.  Officiating will be Brother Scott Tilton.

Vernon touched many during his time with us.  His legacy will continue on for many generations.
