William (Bill) Francis Piccolo, 63, of Bossier City passed away on September 12, 2012 . Bill was born on September 6, 1949 in Bronx, New York. He attended Woodlawn High School, and graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 1974 with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Biological Science. Bill was diagnosed with Central Pontine Myelinolysis in 1967. He worked as a Parole Officer in Dallas for a short time. Despite not being able to physically work as he wished, he had more determination than most and succeeded at overcoming many obstacles put in his way. Bill loved to help those less fortunate than himself and was a volunteer for The Red Cross and New Horizons Independent Living Center. Bill could put a smile on your face almost instantly and loved being surrounded by friends. Through the years he was a member of Christ the King, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Sons of Italy Heritage Club, The Lions Club, and many more. He was also very active in the Woodlawn Class of ?67 reunions and get-togethers. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jocelyn and Jason Lanham of Shreveport; step-daughter and spouse-Denise and Harlan Appleby of Sydney, Australia; step-son-Michael Thompson of Longview; sisters-Connie and spouse Carl Wolfe of Stockport, OH and Jacqueline and spouse Richard Finley of Waterford, OH; brothers-Frank Piccolo of Shreveport, Andy and spouse Karla Piccolo of Stonewall; grandchildren- Hailey, Reighly, Colleen, Bayla, JohnPaul, Keegan, and Mahalia; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Andrea and Mary Piccolo; mother and stepfather, Carmen and Jay Starr. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Boone Funeral Home in Bossier City. The visitation will be held from 11am-3pm on Monday, September 17th at the funeral home; service will follow directly. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to one of the following organizations: The Lions Club; The Deaf Action Center; or the NWLA Foodbank in his honor.
