Please share a memory of Linda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The family of Linda Margaret Kay Teekell invites friends and extended family to join us as we celebrate her life and faith. Rev. David Dietzel will officiate a memorial service to be held on Saturday, March 9th at 10 am at the First United Methodist Church of Bossier City, 201 John Wesley Blvd, Bossier City, LA. A reception and visitation for all family and friends will be held in the fellowship hall immediately following the service. Linda was born on February 21, 1940 to Thomas Rollie Kay and Barbara Brown Kay in Bossier City, LA. She was the 1958 Senior High Favorite of Bossier High School and later attended Louisiana Tech University. On July 1, 1960, she married Charles Ray Teekell, and they soon moved to their home on Yjean St. where she devoted her life to being an example of Christ to her three sons. After 52 years she moved to Nacogdoches, TX, to live with her youngest son and his family. On Tuesday, March 5, 2013, Linda was gently called to glory to live eternally with her mother, father, and husband. We who remain behind live in the comfort and joy that she is fully restored in mind and body through the promise of Scripture and that she remains in the arms of Christ. Linda was a woman of great faith and prayer, serving the church and community in several capacities. She was a charter member of the Midyett Sunday school class, served on the Historical Committee, the prayer chain, visited nursing homes, and taught adult and children?s Sunday school. Additionally, she worked as a substitute teacher, an insurance agent for Teekell?s Insurance Agency, and was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She is survived by her three sons, Charles Russell Teekell and wife Rose of Shreveport; Robert Ray Teekell and wife Lorena of Fort Worth, TX, and Rev. Thomas Lewis Teekell and wife Susan of Nacogdoches, TX; grandchildren, LaLena Kay Showalter and husband Michael, Anna Kay Teekell, and James Rollie Teekell; step-grandson, Jamie Barrett and wife Amy; step-granddaughters Simone and Valerie; and numerous cousins and friends. Linda?s sons would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Rock Haven Nursing Home, the Nacogdoches Treatment Center, and close neighbors Buzz Wojecki and Martha Cockrell for their loving care of their mother. Memorial donations can be made to First United Methodist Church, 201 John Wesley Blvd., Bossier City, LA 71112, the Wesley Foundation, P.O. Box 4609 SFA, Nacogdoches, TX 75962, or the Nacogdoches Treatment Center (a Christian-based, non-profit ministry to Alzheimer patients and their families who care for them), 119 Hughes St., Nacogdoches, TX 75961.
