-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Danny Wimberly Shreveport, LA October 4, 2006 11:45 PM Ms. Mangum was a wonderful and caring person. She was a great teacher. Her dedicated work with students showed in many ways. Her most outstanding attribute was her ability to motivate her students to achieve. Just as her outstanding qualities showed in her professional life she was also a loving mother, wife, and a close friend to many. I am deeply saddened by her entry into eteal rest. However, it is comforting to know that she is free of suffering and pain. It is also comforting to know that her jouey through life has lead her to a destination where she will be rewarded with the crown of eteal life with the living God. We will miss her wonderful smile, warm personality, and her caring spirit. May God bless her family. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Matt Villarreal Aircraft Carrier, Pacific Ocean October 4, 2006 10:58 PM I offer my deepest condolences for the passing of such a grand lady. My earliest memories are of Evangeline Circle and the strong matriarchs that lined its street. For those of us from the Lanzillotti clan, she will always be "Mrs Berry". As a child, I took for granted the kindness and friendship that allowed me to go fetch a basketball or baseball from a neighbor's yard without getting in to trouble. Sadly, that time has seemed to pass on as well. I always looked forward to the Christmas Eve rendezvous at my grandparent's house. Peter and Mrs. Berry were always such a lovely addition to the caroling chorus. Caroling will never be the same and she will truly be missed. Very Respectfully, LCDR Matthew J. Villarreal -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mark King Fort Lauderdale, FL October 4, 2006 10:23 PM Mrs. Berry, as I knew and loved her, guided me with grace and encouragement throughout my years at Parkway High School. Memories of her, and specific words of wisdom and support she gave me, have stayed with me for nearly thirty years. I will simply never forget her, and remain grateful for having the pleasure of this rearkable woman in my life. Mark King (Her redheaded son, as she called me) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mark Cooper Huntington Beach, CA October 4, 2006 5:31 PM Only God knows (and is sharing with her now) the thousands of lives she impacted for the good and will continue to impact. I am one of those people who would be a different person today had it not been for the lessons in "caring" leadership that she demonstrated and instilled in me as a young man. Her name has always been at the top of my list when asked for individuals who have had the greatest impact on my life. Her memory will continue through the halls of Parkway High School and throughout this Country where her former students are exemplifying the lessons she instilled in all of us. She is a Legend. God Bless Mrs. Mangum (Berry). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Harvey Helms Lafayette, Louisiana October 4, 2006 5:09 PM Jeannine Berry Mangum She is still, affectionately, "Mrs. Berry" to me. She was a great teacher and certainly the one with the most influence in my life. I will always remember the genuine care and conce she had for me and my fellow students. She got me involved in student govement in high school and was the first teacher, if not the only one, that ever actually challenged me to do and be my very best in everything that I attempted and her words have helped guide me to this day. I attribute much of my success to her. I loved her very much and I know she will be missed by all who loved her. I pray we can all take comfort in knowing that she is now in the grace of GOD. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vivian Helms Olson Mission Viejo, CA October 4, 2006 12:05 PM I am so sorry to hear of Jeannine's passing.
