Obituary of Ben Broussard

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Ben Broussard was born in Baytown, Texas on July 20, 1949, and died doing what he loved on June 19, 2015 when his plane crashed at Shreveport Downtown Airport. He was 65 years old. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Bossier City on June 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will precede the memorial service at the same location from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Officiating the memorial service will be Reverend David Dietzel. Mr. Broussard was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High school in Baytown, TX and a graduate of Louisiana State University-Shreveport. For the last 21 years, He has worked as a computer analyst for the Caddo Parish School Board. Mr. Broussard was a member of the USAF Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol (CAP) where he worked as safety officer and volunteered countless hours serving the community. He was also a certified flight instructor and a hot air balloon pilot. Mr. Broussard loved music and volunteered his talents as an accomplished trombone player in the Shreveport Metropolitan Band in addition to singing in the choir at his church. He was also a member of the Louisiana Lions Club for many years. And last but not least, Mr. Broussard was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Bossier City, LA. He never let the grass grow under his feet. He loved his family dearly and never stopped singing their praises. He is survived by his daughters, Melinda Broussard, Stacy Wells and husband Jason; Jean Broussard, the mother of his children; grandchildren Emerson Wells, Nola Wells, and Ben Wells; sisters Grace Broussard and husband Richard Lindley of Wimberley, TX; Sherri Lopez and husband Joe of Las Cruses, NM; and many nieces and nephews.
