Betty Rae Bagwell, 83, of Buna, Texas passed away Friday August 29, 2014, in Shreveport, LA, following complications of West Nile virus. Betty was born in Arcadia, LA on April 26, 1931 to Andrew and Gladys Brown. She married Buford Melvin Bagwell on December 22, 1946.
Betty was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She enjoyed being a homemaker and providing for her family with her cooking, sewing, crocheting, canning from her garden and fishing.
Betty is survived by two children: Bruce Bagwell, of Buna and Teresa Riser and her husband, Al of Shreveport, LA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Terry Bagwell, Jr. of Buna; Chris Riser of Shreveport; Angie Noland and husband Dave, of Beaumont, TX; Dent Riser of Fortville, Indiana; Maggien Bagwell of Port Neches, TX; Kristy Riser of Shreveport and Savanna Cody of Lovington, NM. Six great-grandchildren: Brittany Knoblock and husband Jonathon of Buna; Dixie Riser of Shreveport; Tre' and Joseph Riser of Fortville, IN; Desiree Stephens, Michael Prudencio and Kevin Dew of NM and eleven great-great-grandchildren. Sisters: Eloise Berry of Dallas, TX; and Juanita Brown of Arcadia, LA; and Brother: Beau Brown of Arcadia. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Bagwell, and her parents, Andrew and Gladys Brown; brother Sammy Brown of Buna; sisters Dorothy Jean Brown and Sunshine Brown of Arcadia, and Ruby Rollins of Winnfield, LA.
A Graveside service will be held at Antioch Cemetery in Goldonna, LA at 2 P.M. Tuesday September 2, 2014.
