Obituary of John Malcolm Gauthier

John Malcolm Gauthier passed away peacefully at home in Shreveport on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the age of 80. John was a Veteran who loved and served his country in the United States Air Force. He served as Grand Knight in Knights of Columbus, Marion Council and President of the St. Mary of the Pines Men’s Club. John was a devoted husband and father with a deep love for the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Over the past several years John found a passion for making and giving away hundreds of rosaries and loved serving in the church. He was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints and the LSU Tigers and also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

John is preceded in death by his father, Roy Joseph Gauthier, and mother, Noda Marie LaBorde, both of Avoyelles Parish, LA , and his sister Janet Gauthier Aymond.

John is lovingly remembered by his wife, Frances Chopin Gauthier of Shreveport; sons, Clinton James Gauthier (Cathy) of Prairieville, LA, and Kevin Michael Gauthier of Shreveport; grandchildren Anthony James Gauthier and Christy Ann Gauthier; stepchildren Mary Elizabeth McKissick Crooks (Wayne), Frances McKissick Lee “Cissy” (Mickey), Tom Jeffery McKissick IV (Marilyn), Joseph Anthony “Tony” McKissick (Susan), Michael Edward McKissick (Sherry); Therese McKissick Aldrich (Joey), Patricia McKissick Pierce (Larry) and a host of grand children and great grand children; sister Cheryl Gauthier Chalah (Mounzer) and brother Otis James “Jimmy” Gauthier (Betty) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be held at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church on Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 5pm – 7pm. Rosary and prayer service at 6:30pm. The funeral service will be held at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 10:00am with a graveside service at Calvary Cemetery in Texarkana, AR at 3pm.
