Obituary of Mary Jeannette Woodruff

Mary Jeannette Woodruff, born May 11, 1922 passed away on January 25, 2015 at Promise Hospital in Bossier City, LA after a short illness. She was 93 years old, and was the last surviving child of Peter William Woodruff and Beulah Mae Walker, sister of Peter William Woodruff and Nelwyn Woodruff. She is survived by her son, Charles Ransom Curtis, Jr. "Chuck", of Bossier City, LA, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A graduate of Byrd High School in 1939 and LSU in 1943. She worked for Cities Service Oil Company from which she retired. She served as President of the Desk & Derrick Club, President of the Highland Hospital Auxiliary, and secretary to head pastor of the First Baptist Church of Shreveport, in which she was a member since 1934. Mary Jeannette was a devoted fan of the LSU Tigers, Dallas Cowboys, and the American Saddlebred Horse. She was a member of the Frances Rebecca Harrison Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. A special thanks to Ms. Woodruff's care giver, Teresa Jackson and the Bossier City Fire department Stations 9 & 5 for their care and assistance. Family will receive friends at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 with funeral services at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church. Pall bearers are Paul Graugnard, Larry Beck, Rick Holland, Nathan Bryan, and Adam McDaniel.
