Obituary of Joshua James Parrish

Joshua James Parrish passed away on March 30, 2020. He was a victim of a tragic accident. He was 38 years old.

Josh was born on March 14,1982 in Granada Hills, California to Mark Roy Parrish and Teri Reese Parrish. Josh graduated from Palm Bay High School in Palm Bay, Florida and worked as an Arborist in Shreveport, Louisiana. Josh was a true believer and follower of Jesus, the Christ. He was a beautiful soul with a huge heart, full of love for others. The family was told that Josh’s last act was one of kindness for his fellow man. He believed the two most important things in life, were to, “Love God with all your heart, and to love your neighbor as yourself.”

Josh is survived by his mother, Teri Reese Parrish-Landsem of Blanchard, LA, his brother and best friend, Benjamin Mark Parrish, his sister-in-law, Kelli Jean Parrish, nephew Asher Ethan Parrish, nieces, Savannah-Lyn Michaela Parrish, and Emma-Leigh Grace Parrish of Shreveport, LA. He is also survived by his brother Michael Allan Landsem of Redding, CA, sister Crystal Renee Landsem of Chico, CA, maternal grandparents Robert Harvey Reese and Janice Ubadene Reese of Huntersville, NC and his grandfather Clair Landsem of Chino, CA. Josh is also survived by his paternal aunts, Judy Spaulding, of NY and Patty Parrish of Michigan and Tresa Parrish-Bundy, also of Michigan. Maternal aunts, Robin Leigh Reese Bouchez and husband Mark of Huntersville, NC and April Ann Turner Reese of Tempe, Arizona. Additionally, he is survived by cousins: Jonathan, Ashley, Shannon, Sabrina, Nicholas, Cody, Bonnie, April, Katie, Nicole, Nathan, and Michelle, Benjamin, Joshua, Holly, Caleb, and Hilary.

Josh is preceded in death by his beloved father, Mark Roy Parrish, his dear step-father Michael A. Landsem, paternal uncle, Clarke “Sonny” Parrish, paternal grandfather Clarke Parrish, paternal grandmother Inez Leamy, maternal great-grandmother Alma Cammy Jones, paternal great-grandmother, Margaret Ann Reese and cousin, Sean Patrick Hogan.

Joshua James Parrish will be buried in a private service at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mooringsport, LA, at 1:00pm on April 3, 2020. A memorial service will be planned at a later date where all are welcome. In lieu, of flowers the family requests that donations in Josh’s name be made to Bethel Colony of Mercy, 1675 Bethel Colony Rd., Lenoir, NC 28645, to the attention of Shirley Shiflett.
