Obituary of Bill Scott

Funeral services for Bill Scott will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Boone Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery. Officiating will be Bro. Billy Pearce with Rob Stockton directing the music. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 2, 2013 between 5:00 and 7:00 PM at Boone Funeral Home. Bill passed away peacefully at the age of 89 after a long struggle with heart disease and Parkinson's. In his early years, he loved to play baseball and basketball and even referee high school basketball games. He proudly served in the Navy abroad the USS Langley during WWII. Bill loved people and often said "strangers were just friends he had not met". He was a Christian of the Baptist faith and a long-time member of Barksdale Baptist Church. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ora Scott; three brothers, Doyle Scott, Walter Scott, and Dale Scott; sister, Elizabeth Dees and husband Orian; and grandson, Robert Joseph. Bill is survived by the love of his life and wife of 65 years, Edith Scott; daughters, Dianne Banik and husband Ted, Donna Temple and Barbara Scott McFarland "Sam"; grandchildren, Denise Batson and husband Brad, Chadwick John May and wife Sarah, Daniel Scott Fenton, Brandi Danielle Fenton and husband Donny Huckaby; great-grandchildren, Aidien Batson, Ethian Batson, Aden Fenton, Destiny Fenton, Kagan Fenton; sister-in-laws, Martha Scott, Pearl Scott; nephew, James Orien Dees and wife Vonda; great nephews, Mike Dees and wife Sandy, Randy Dees and wife Monica. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Robert Lafargue and Beth for many extra happy years. Thanks to Dr. Sally Ball, Dr. Futrel, Justin (Nurse) and Terresa for all the special care given. Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Barksdale Baptist Church.
