Obituary of Catherine Lucille Basham

Catherine Lucille Basham was born in 1933 at Shangaloo, Louisiana. Sadly, Lucille passed away July 18, 2021 in Shreveport with her sons by her side. The family will hold a Celebration of Life service for Lucille at Barksdale United Methodist Church, Bossier City at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 23, 2021.
Lucille graduated from Northwestern State University in 1955 with a degree in Nursing. She worked her entire nursing career at the Overton Brooks Veterans Hospital. During her time there, she cared for the Veterans of five wars. To include the Spanish American War, WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam.
During her college years, she met and married the love of her life, A.D. “Doc” Basham. They enjoyed 60 plus years together and raised two sons. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with Doc and sewing.
Waiting in Heaven for Lucille is husband Doc Basham; parents, and two sisters. Left to carry on Lucille’s legacy are sons, Darcy Basham and wife Debra, Jeffrey Basham and wife Julie; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; and many other family members and family.
Lucille loved taking care of Veterans and her family. Her caring spirit will live on for many years in the hearts of everyone that had the honor and privilege of knowing her.
