Obituary of Ola Mae Mills
Please share a memory of Ola to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ola Mae Mills was born April 28, 1932 in Fisher, Louisiana to Wilson and Irene Mitchell. Ola went to Heaven on September 10, 2021 in Bossier City, Louisiana. A Celebration of Life Service for Ola will be 11:00 AM, Monday, September 20, 2021, in Fisher Cemetery, Fisher, Louisiana.
Ola met the love of her life, Charles Mills at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and were married on January 5, 1952. They were happily married for 59 years. While at Fort Polk, Charles and Ola had their son, Kenneth. After the Army transferred them to Fort Carson, Colorado, a daughter, Sandra joined the family. Charles eventually left the Army and joined the Air Force and was stationed at Little Rock, Arkansas, and then the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. During this time, Ola dedicated herself to supporting her husband’s career, as well as raising their two children. After 20 years of service to his country, Charles and Ola retired and moved back to Louisiana to be closer to Ola’s family.
Square dancing was a major part of Charles and Ola’s lives, which allowed them to travel to different parts of the United States to attend dancing functions. Both Charles and Ola were active members of Bellaire Baptist Church in Bossier City, Louisiana. After Charles’ passing, Ola continued to volunteer as much time as possible at the church.
Preceding Ola in death is her husband, Charles A. Mills; son, and Kenneth Neal Mills. She leaves behind daughter, Sandra Mills; grandchildren, Curtiss Mills and wife Lauren, and Kristin Mills; great-grandchildren, Owen Mills, Patrick Mills, Josh Mills, Riley Mills and Paige Mills; siblings, Maxine, Pauline, Minnie, Marie, Judy, Garland, Bobby, and Carroll; many nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.
It was Ola’s request that Charles be buried with her, so they could be together forever. Ola dedicated her life to her family, friends, but especially to her Lord and Savior. She touched many lives and her legacy of love and caring will continue on through everyone she met. She will be greatly missed.
